Kiersten Birondo's journey with the Rozsa Center began long before her appointment as Executive Director. As a 5th generation Yooper, Houghton High School and Michigan Tech alum, Birondo has been a part of the Rozsa's story for years, both as a performer and an audience member. Her intimate understanding of the center's impact on the region and her unwavering commitment to the arts make her the ideal candidate to lead the organization into its 25th anniversary and beyond."Since it opened in 2000, I have loved the Rozsa from every angle," Birondo expressed. "As a performer, audience member, auntie introducing my niece to the performing arts, and staff member, the Rozsa has been the foundation of my artistic life and the catalyst of my professional one." Birondo's deep-rooted connection to the Rozsa Center and her passion for the arts will undoubtedly shape her vision for the organization's future.

Fostering Sustainability, Accessibility, and Innovation

In her new role, Birondo will oversee all aspects of the Rozsa Center's operations, working closely with Michigan Technological University to implement strategic plans that align with the center's mission of sustainability and accessibility. Her experience in arts administration, coupled with her strong leadership skills and understanding of the Rozsa's inner workings, will be instrumental in driving the organization forward."I know the impact this organization can have on one person and our entire community," Birondo continued. Birondo's appointment as the new Executive Director marks the successful conclusion of a nationwide five-month search conducted by a search committee led by Michigan Tech Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair Jared Anderson. The committee's thorough evaluation process and Birondo's impressive qualifications made her the ideal candidate to succeed former Director Mary Jennings, who served the organization from 2014 through April 2024."Kiersten's passion for the arts, coupled with her experience in arts administration, strong leadership skills, and deep understanding of nearly every aspect of the Rozsa, make her the ideal candidate for this position," said Jared Anderson. A Multifaceted Background Enriching the Rozsa's Future

Prior to joining the Rozsa Center, Birondo's diverse experience in the arts has given her a unique perspective on the importance of supporting the creative community. She previously served as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Stepping Stone Theatre for Youth in St. Paul, MN, and co-founded Now. Make. Art., a Minnesota-based organization that collaborates with community entities to provide free, youth-centric, multi-generational arts experiences in public spaces.Birondo's appointment as the Rozsa Center's new Executive Director is a testament to her exceptional qualifications and her unwavering commitment to the arts.
